A game is 40-60$ ,and in my country medium income is 300$,so we here can`t buy game…
If game developers wants to make huge profits and please the clients as well,the should bring the price to 5$ a game and i guarantee that only in my country (population=23 million ppl),will sell 500.000 copies…if crysis 1 had one million copies sold at 40$/dvd means 40 million…let s say the price was 5$ they would have sold over 10 milion copies…that means 50 million…
But if the price would be 5$ on one copy i say that about 20-30 million copies would be sold out…

I’m as Pirate as they come… I have a good wage but I choose to spend it on things I cant get for free =P (like my recent purchase of my PC “The IronGiant” since it is 2ce the size of normal pcs with 8x the hardware =P)

Bought Crysis (1) to support it when it first came out (being a PC only I was WOOHOOing constantly) but now Crytek is going all gay with their console releases (which has removed the major Sandbox aspect of the game for PC just so it will work on consoles too) I will Pirate it then delete it and Pirate it again… GAY!! is all I can say about their GAYNESS CONSOLE RELEASES!! (I do use consoles… but only when the game doesnt come out for PC =P)

Let’s get some real here:

Game is USD 99 in USA, North-americans and europeans have a great money income, so this game actually represents only 1/50~1/100 of they brute income.

However, when you go to a less developed country like mine, Brasil, the cost of this game IF IT WERE USD 99 goes up to roughly 1/15 ~ 1/20 of our income. THAT IS A HUGE price to pay for an eetronic entertainment media with NO COST OF REPRODUCTION digitally.

However, 1/20 of our income would be if we directly payed for the price via steam without paying of local taxes. Currently buying through steam with internation credit cards is not viable (and actually illegal) in our country so if we go to an retail shop we would actually have to pay and extra 60% + 8% of taxes, plus extra Profit and abusive prices of retaillers increasing the overral cost of the product to a huge 1/8 cost of the whole salary of the main dominant social class (and yougsters who still are ascending in the profissional life)

So, for you North americans, 99 usd maybe not that expensive, but for me, a 23 year old, university student it would cost actually 200 USD when i earn less than 1500 USD;month.

And Brasil is the 7th larger economy in PIB, and i represent a large ammount of the popualtion ABOVE the medium income.

Since this is a digital copy, i’m not “stealing” it, because i’m not causing lost sales or damage to ANYONE. If i couldnt “copy” it, i would SIMPLY not buy it, so makes no difference to the multimillionare EA who produces it.

Capitalism only works for the rich, that is why i pirate. IF i could DONATE a viable amount of my income DIRECTLY (without taxes or retaillers profit) to the produces of the game, i would gladly do it. I could give roughly 25~30 usd dollars withou too much sacrifice, but 200 USD , it is an absurd, a true “legalized” extortion.

That is part of the reality of the world for you guys who doesn’t “get” piracy and think we are all irrational egoistic parasits.

We aren´t.

If i REALLY like a (Multiplayer) game, i wait for it’s prices to go down (after playing the pirated version), and ask friends with international card to buy for me in a quick discount on Steam, around 20usd, then i can a play a legit copy and support the game.

I buy all games i like on steam, but after wasting 100 bux on 2 games which turned out to be hyped by bribed reviewers, i download and try the games first, i need to buy to play online. And i agree with many here, prices are outrageous, you cant charge the same to our bretherin in third world, your asking for theyre month salaries in some cases, if games cost a little less, 29 even, i would buy alot more of them, psychologically i cant allow myself to buy more then 1 proper and new 50$ game a month, usually theyve gone down in price due to me having to wait for crack etc to try it first.

But petrol is $ 2,3 per liter ($9/galloon), small house is $700/month, smaall car is $18000, bread is $4,50 Kg, electricity is $600 /megawatt.

I dont buy games ’cause I dont play em, I just download and rarely play someone. I usually install, play a little, then forget em cause I get bored.
SOmetimes I buy someone for multiplayer, as Ultima Online, I pay monthly fee.
Anyway I think games are way tooo expensive ($ 100 here a full-price one) and they are too short.
Also, they all the same, I play since 10 years old but I am so bored now.
I think pc gaming won’t end because people buy hardware and pay internet because of piracy (games and movies). I buy a lot of hardware and very fast internet. If they cut pc games and my fun time here over internet (even if I don’t play games), I wont buy any new generation hardware/hardisk/Dvd and I will cut internet.
